About
portfolio.BrianFrantz.com
Thanks for visiting my site! I hope you enjoy the wallpaper. I
fully intend to add more in the future and by registering, you can opt in to
be notified when that happens.
Currently, the only user feedback built into the site is "boosting."
It's basically a simple rating scheme. When logged in, you'll notice that you
can "boost" an image. The higher the photo's boost rating, the higher
it will appear when sorting by boosts (and the top rated photo appears on the
home page). Your rating is saved and you can come back and change it at any
time and the total will be adjusted accordingly (this goes for lowering a rating
as well). At some point I may add the ability to comment on a photo, but for
now please boost images that you like!
About Me:
My name is Brian Frantz. I'm a student at Texas A&M University majoring
in Computer Science with minors in Mathematics and Business. Photography and
videography have been interests of mine since I was young, but it wasn't until
a few years ago (2005) that I finally purchased a digital SLR camera.
Since then, I have enjoyed learning about exposure, white balance,
aperture, Photoshop editing and other elements of good photography. I've still
got plenty to learn and often forget to check certain settings, but I'm enjoying
the process. So far I just have a Konica Minolta Maxxum 5D with its stock AF
DT 18-70mm lens and a Sigma DG 70-300mm telephoto lens.
I decided to develop this site from scratch as an opportunity
to hone my web development skills (first time to create a truly dynamic website)
and also to share higher-quality versions of my pictures. Most of my SLR photos
are on my smugmug.com site (click "Photo Gallery" above). However,
it doesn't provide a good way to share different desktop sizes of photos, and
I also wanted to be able to make sure the larger images were watermarked (made
easy thanks to Photoshop actions + batch processing). So, I spent a couple months
during the summer of 2007 developing this site. Hope you like it!
